Looking for the name of the sub-genre of instrumental electronic music which is similar to “new-retro” synthwave, but uses less retro-sounding and more modern-sounding synth tones?

I really like the arrangement and mood of synthwave, but not so much the retro synth tones, they sound a little jarring to me

So I’m looking for a genre which is very similar but uses more modern-sounding tones instead, wonder if you guys know the name.

Sorry if you’re really into retro tones, not meaning to diss them.

synthwave has been an important part of my musical “journey”, it has guided me to realize what kind of music really speaks to me
