Volcanic Twighlights

I'd thought about why the pink and blue sunset aesthetic is heavily associated with the west coast of the US at this time in the early 80's. Watching a documentary just now and the answer is in it - the plume from the El Chichon volcanic eruption in 1982 in Mexico circled the globe and changed the way sunsets looked until 1984.
